They’re music industry gods so it’s only right they should have their own church.
According to report, Beyoncé and Jay Z have snagged a former church turned mansion in New Orleans.
The house, on Harmony St. jusrt half a block from St. Charles Ave. in the city’s tony Garden District, is one of the most historic residential properties in the Big Easy.
It was built in the 1920s as a church and later became the headquarters of the Ballet Hysell, a famed dance company headed by the late choreographer Harvey Hysell.
The massive, 13,292 Spanish Baroque-style property was converted into a home in 2000 by former owner Sandra Castille McNamara.McNamara overhauled the property, installing a new elevator shaft and the largest green roof in the city.The church’s former alter became a dining room and the choir loft was transformed into a master suite.Listing broker Britt Galloway. of real estate firm Keller Williams, declined to confirm the indentity of the buyers but told the Daily News they’d approached him about buying the property long after it had been taken off the market.“They saw the house when it was listed a while ago,” he said. “Then they came back after it was no longer on the market.”
Beyoncé and Jay Z are regularly spotted in New Orleans. They were in town for Beyoncé’s sister Solange’s wedding to Alan Ferguson last year.They were also spotted eating at trendy restaurant Kingfish in the French Quarter while on their “On the Run” tour.
