Kano Pillars Players Attacked By Bandits/Armed Robbers, 5 Injured


No fewer than five players of the Nigerian
Premier League champions, Kano Pillars,
were injured on Thursday when their team
bus conveying them to Owerri for a game
against Heartland FC, was attacked by
armed robbers along the Abaji-Lokoja
Road.

The five injured players are Gambo
Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala,
Reuben Ogbonnaya and Ubong Ekpai,
who, according to the team’s
spokesperson, Idris Malikawa, are
receiving medical attention.
Malikawa also said: “We were attacked
by armed robbers and five of our players
were injured by the thieves. As I’m talking
to you, these five players are now at the
Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja and are
responding to treatment. The attack
occurred around 1.15pm and the rest of
the team are still in shock, following the
incident.”
