Eight students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State have travelled to the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, US, for an international exchange programme.
The students are the second batch from FUTA to benefit from the exchange programme between the university and FAMU.
The collaboration, which began in 2013, will enable the students to proceed for their master’s degrees as well as earn the FAMU postgraduate certificates.
FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, while speaking at a pre-departure event organised for the beneficiaries, advised them to be upright and focus on their programme in order to achieve excellence in their academic pursuit.
The Chairman, Committee of Deans and Dean, School of Sciences, Prof. Ibiyinka Fuwape, counselled them to remain focused in their studies.
She said, “America rewards excellence. It will take care of you but you have to excel.”
She further urged them to be good ambassadors of the university and the country.
