Exclusive Pictures: Mimiko commissions New Radio Station Orange FM

Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko on Thursday commissioned the state owned Frequency Modulation(FM) station, ‘Orange FM’ along Ireshe road, in Akure.
Speaking at the event, Mimiko said" as partakers in the sacred duty of upholding one of society’s most sensitive and enduring institutions – the dissemination of news for the education and enlightenment of the citizenry.
"When this administration came to office in February of 2009, one of its first acts, as custodian of the values and resources of the people of Ondo State, was to pledge a strong commitment to the development of all sectors of the economy as a necessary tool for the uplift of our people.
" We made that firm pledge before God and man when we promised to work for our people.
"It is therefore not happenstance that our results in all sectors have yielded huge dividends or, that we deliberately made investments in some sectors hitherto paid lip-service.  All you have seen are deliberate policies of government through which we have stated unequivocally, that only  the best is good enough for Ondo State.
"As government, we realize that our efforts are not lost on our people, because the emphatic statement they made on  October 20, 2012, was an affirmation of their trust in us, to which we pledge again our undying commitment.”
"None of our achievements since we came to office is through happenstance and I dare say with all humility that all you have seen so far, are deliberate actions that we have designated as parts functioning  harmoniously in our overall policy  design.
"A vibrant public broadcast medium was not only factored into the design for functional and aesthetic reasons, but more importantly, to mirror the changing tide of development in our dear State.
"For us, we strongly believe that if we are trying to build for this generation and the ones to come, a truly modern system, the least we  can do is accompany the trend with a befitting, modern and efficient public broadcast medium.
"These were the underlying issues when we set up a committee several months ago to establish, equip and staff a befitting Frequency Modulation (FM) Radio Station here, to help drive the Ondo State agenda and present the views of the various sections of the State with the clarity of purpose they deserve.”
Mimiko commended  those whose steadfastness and effort had been instrumental to establish the project.
He urged the workers to provide the information that would engender development in all sectors of society and create the platforms where society can engage itself in constructive discussions.
