Nigeria vs Kenya (World Cup qualifier)Nigeria beat Kenya 1-0 at home in World Cup qualifying on Wednesday, making African champion Nigeria to take control of their group.
Nigeria snatched a winner nine minutes from time through Ahmed Musa to beat Kenya and boost their World Cup qualifying chances.
Musa’s 81st minute goal secured 3 points for the Super Eagles in Nairobi. The goal gave the Super Eagles a two-point lead at the top of Group F.
Malawi drew 0-0 at home with Namibia on Wednesday.
Malawi, which was level with Nigeria at the top of Group F, couldn’t find a way past the Namibians at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre for its third draw in four games in Africa’s qualifying competition.
Group F’s fixtures were brought forward because of Nigeria’s trip to the Confederations Cup. The group also will have another round of games next Wednesday before Nigeria travels to Brazil for the Confederations Cup, which starts on June 15.
It will be Nigeria’s first trip to the World Cup warmup tournament since 1995 having won the African Cup in February.
