The Chief Magistrate, Mr Taslimi Shomade, sentenced Bayo Babasola and Saheed Olaiya, both aged 18, following their guilty plea to conspiracy and stealing, during arraignment.
Shomade directed that the sentence would be cleaning of the court premises.
The Prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, had submitted that the teenagers conspired to steal the Nokia 112 telephone on May 21, at the Volkswagen Bus Stop, on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
According to the prosecutor, the telephone belonged to Mrs Mary Osugbe.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 285 provides that any person who steals any property is guilty of a felony, and liable, if no other punishment is provided, to imprisonment for three years.
