This Just In: February 13 is “Break Up With Your Ex” Day inspired by Erin Meanley

Our friends over at pyeworld are announcing a plan for all single and attached people, from now until Valentine’s Day. They have declared February 13 the first annual “Break Up With Your Ex” Day. Break up with your ex.) “We want you to be completely free of your ex on that symbolic day of love,” they write. (How mentally healthy!)

The catalyst for this movement was a survey they conducted in which 71 percent of people said they think about their ex too much, and 48 percent of respondents (including marrieds!) said they look at their ex’s Facebook profiles more than they should.

The folks at pyeworld point out just how deep and tangled a web you can have with your ex. They provide a long checklist of to-dos, including:

Unfriending him on FB and unfollowing on Twitter and 2go

Untagging photos or better yet, deleting them altogether!

Blocking the guy on instant message(BBM)

Deleting his contact info from your phone and email address book

Seeking support from friends

And speaking of that support, we shall be launching a Facebook page just for the occasion/good cause. You can send your friends a Facebook Support Star or a Facebook Stalker Star (hint, hint) and post badges to announce your own progress.

Will you celebrate BUWYED? Are you already “clean” of the ex, or is he/she all over your social media sites? Come on, be honest! Do you look at his profile too often?
Ŧђɑ̤̥̈̊п̥̥̲̣̣̣k you.
